JAMES FISHER INTRODUCES NEW MASS FLOW EXCAVATOR

James Fisher Subsea Excavation part of James Fisher and Sons plc introduced a new solution for large scale excavation projects. The SP12000 a hydraulically-driven mass flow excavator produces more than six tons of thrust at full power and a volume output of 12000 liters of water per second.

The process also known as mass flow excavation is a form of dredging used in subsea excavation. The system produces a controlled column of water which is used to clear seabed for uncovering existing pipeline and/or laying new pipeline.

The company said engineering in the design results in excellent flow regime which produces the cleanest cut trench possible. Despite its size the fully-controllable SP12000 is also capable of smaller-scale precision excavation. This new technology is also being applied to the company’s existing extensive fleet of mass flow excavators.

James Fisher Subsea Excavation’s equipment is used for applications including pipeline and cable trenching deburial rock dump dispersal and seabed clearance and preparations. The mass flow excavators are ideal for moving materials such as sand silt and mud drill cuttings clay and rock dump.
