BAGGERBEDRIJF DE BOER B.V. (DUTCH DREDGING B.V.) JOINS THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DREDGING COMPANIES (IADC)

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) announced in mid-July that Baggerbedrijf De Boer B.V. (Dutch Dredging B.V.) had joined the organization as a main member.

Baggerbedrijf de Boer/ Dutch Dredging B.V. is a medium-sized dredging company based in Sliedrecht the Netherlands. The holding is an independent private company and the scope of its activities includes dredging surveying and a wide range of marine-related operations. The company has maritime operations all over Europe in the Caribbean area and South America as well in northern Africa.

According to the bylaws of the IADC member companies must meet a list of criteria to join as a member of IADC. Companies should own and/or control either directly or indirectly via subsidiaries sea-going plant of at least €25 million; they must compete internationally on dredging and/or maritime construction projects; the majority vote of shares should be privately (as opposed to governmentally) owned; and they must comply with IADC’s Standards of Professional Conduct.

After years of consolidation and mergers among the European dredging companies two new main members joined in 2008: Rohde Nielsen A/S based in Copenhagen Denmark and National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) based in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Rohde Nielsen is a family-owned business that operates worldwide as a dredging contractor. National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) has a fleet of cutter suc-tion dredgers and is registered on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange. 

The IADC the global umbrella organization for contractors in the private dredging industry. IADC has 11 main members and more than one hundred associated members working worldwide. Besides Dutch Dredging NMDC and Rohde Nielsen all mentioned above the other main members are Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. DEME N.V. Gulf Cobla (L.L.C.) Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. Jan De Nul NV Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd. Toa Corporation and Van Oord. China Harbour Engineering Company Beijing China PR is listed as an observer.
