JACKSONVILLE DISTRICT AWARDS CONTRACT TO SOUTHWIND

The Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announced July 2 that it has awarded a maintenance dredging contract for $1655872.00 to Southwind Construction Corporation of Evansville Indiana to dredge the Gordon River in Naples Florida.

The federal channel of the Gordon is about 4.5 miles long and has an authorized depth of 12 feet.

Southwind will dredge an estimated 80000 cubic yards of material from cuts 1 3 and 4 in the Gordon Pass Channel. Cuts 3 and 4 were added to the awarded contract as a result of the contracting strategy. The Corps said construction will begin in mid-August and should continue through October.
