J.F. BRENNAN DREDGES IOWA’S LAKE MANAWA

J.F. Brennan has been dredging the waters of Iowa’s Lake Manawa since April.

The lake sits south of Council Bluffs and just north of a bend in the Missouri River. The dredging is part of a $10 million master plan for the lake and its campground. The goal of the dredging is to restore the lake’s mean aver-age depth from today’s average 6.1 feet to more than 10 feet and to increase water clarity to at least 50 percent from April through September. That will require removing about 4.7 million cubic yards of material.

In this first phase about half a million cubic yards of sand will be removed to a testing site where officials of the Iowa Department of Transportation can test it to see if it is suitable for use in highway projects.
