CHARLESTON HARBOR DEEPENING PROJECT RECEIVES 2016 FUNDING FOR PED PHASE
The 52-foot Charleston Harbor Deepening project was recommended to Congress for authorization and received funds in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 2016 work plan. Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy signed the record of decision for the project in mid-January. It received $225000 for the pre-construction design and engineering (PED) phase under the Corps 2016 work plan. Charles-ton Harbor also received $17 million for annual maintenance dredging in the harbor for 2016 and $13.92 million for maintenance dredging in the President’s fiscal year 2017 budget.
