Kongsberg Maritime Delivers Offshore Simulator

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. an offshore drilling contractor chose Kongsberg Maritime to supply its offshore and navigation simulator package for a brand-new training center.

Ocean Rig owns and operates two ultradeepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and nine ultra-deepwater drillships. All of these vessels operate with Kongsberg technology including dynamic positioning thruster control integrated control and automation safety/fire and gas and riser management systems. Four of the drillships have integrated navigation solutions.

The new training center will include two full mission bridge simulators. The K-Sim Offshore simulator will be equipped like a drillship based on Ocean Rig’s Samsung 96k/Enhanced Saipem 10000 design. The other full mission simulator is designed as a DNV Class A navigation bridge. Two separate classrooms will also feature KSim ECDIS trainers K-Pos DP Class C and KChief 700 crew trainers for drillship.
