IHC Merwede appointed Thomas Agenvall as the new vice president business development based at the Houston Texas office. Agnevall has served as Vice President for Vryhof Anchors for the past ten years where he was responsible for global business development.

Public Relations Professional Award
Laci Theriot of Chris Ransome and Associates (CRA) Inc. received the Young Public Relations Professional of the Year award at the Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter Excalibur Awards Gala on June 19 at the Downtown Houston Crowne Plaza Hotel. Theriot works in the marketing department at CRA developing and maintaining client relations and implementing marketing projects in the Texas and Louisiana maritime industries.
Prior to joining CRA Inc. she worked in the promotions and brand management department for Clear Channel Communications. Theriot is a 2011 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and has a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations with an emphasis in corporate communication. She is the New Professionals Committee Chair for the Public Relations Society of America–Houston Chapter and serves on the dredging and marine construction subcommittee for the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee.
Sara Truesdale Mooney new staff show director.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announced that it appointed Sara Truesdale Mooney as the new CONEXPO-CON/AGG staff show director managing AEM’s flagship exposition. Mooney is AEM senior director exhibitions and strategy.
Melissa Magestro has assumed lead staff liaison responsibilities for AEM’s international exhibitions including CONEXPO Latin America which launches in 2015 in Santiago Chile. Magestro is AEM senior director of exhibitions and heads up AEM exhibit and sponsorship sales; she also serves as IFPE show director.

IADC Young Authors Award
This year’s International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) Young Authors Award at the 33rd PIANC World Congress in San Francisco California went to Corraggio Maglio for his paper Reducing Shoaling in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and Erosion of Barrier Islands along West Galveston Bay.
Maglio shared this honor with his team of co-authors – Kimberly Townsend Rob Thomas Derek Thornton Jantzen Miller Tricia Campbell Lihwa Lin Sheridan Willey and Eric Wood – all with the Corps of Engineers.
Every year at selected conferences the IADC recognizes the best papers written by authors younger than 35 years of age. In each case the conference paper committee is asked to recommend papers that makes a significant contribution to the literature on dredging and related fields.
William Egan new president Institute of Acoustics.
Institute of Acoustics
William Egan global sales vice president for Teledyne RESON is the new president of the Institute of Acoustics.
One of his first tasks will be leading the Institute’s 40th anniversary celebration which will culminate in a special two-day conference at the NEC in Birmingham Alabama from October 15 to 16.
Egan said he is determined in his two-year term to raise the public profile of acoustics especially in the government where few realize its accomplishments and potential.
Before joining Teledyne in 2013 Egan spent 12 years at Brüel & Kjaer the sound and vibration measurement specialist where he held a series of senior management positions most recently as global services and solutions director.
Jeff Reilly new group president of strategy and business development.
AMEC
AMEC appointed Jeff Reilly as group president of strategy and business development. He will be a member of the AMEC group management team reporting to Chief Executive Samir Brikho and will be based in Houston Texas.
Reilly joins AMEC from Phillips 66 where he led both the projects organization and was chief procurement officer.
He started his career with Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. as a chemical process design engineer and then ABB Lummus Global Inc. advancing to company vice president at both. He joined ConocoPhillips in 2005 initially as major contracts manager then as chief procurement officer in 2012 when Phillips 66 was spun-off from ConocoPhillips.
Transatlantic Division
Maj. Gen. Michael Eyre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division commander retired from the U.S. Army during a Relinquishment of Command and Retirement Ceremony June 27 at the Stonewall Jackson headquarters.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General and Chief of Engineers Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick accepted the colors from Eyre and passed them to Col. Richard Heitkamp Transatlantic Division Interim Commander. Simultaneously Brig. Gen. Ed Jackson took control of the Transatlantic Division Forward in Afghanistan.
Eyre has commanded the Transatlantic Division since April 26 2013. Prior assignments include the Corps of Engineers’ Deputy Commanding General for Military and International Operations responsible for policy programming and technical support in the execution of more than $28 billion in design construction and environmental programs for the Army Air Force other Department of Defense and foreign agencies.
Jackson has been serving as the Deputy Commanding General for Transatlantic Division Forward and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan Engineer since April 27. Most recently he served as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Division commander.
Brigadier General John S. Kem Corps of Engineers Northwest Division.
Mississippi River Commission
Brigadier General John S. Kem has been appointed by President Obama to serve on the Mississippi River Commission (MRC).
Brig. Gen. Kem serves as the commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division a position he has held since July 2013. He oversees an annual program of more than $3 billion in civil works.
The Corps of Engineers members of MRC provide representation and leadership from the nation’s three largest watersheds – the Mississippi River the Missouri River and the Ohio River.
All MRC members are nominated and appointed by the President of the United States. An Act of Congress created the commission on June 28 1879 to plan and provide for the general improvement of the entire length of the Mississippi River. The presidential appointees consist of three officers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers a representative from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and three civilians two of whom must be civil engineers.

Albuquerque District
Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Dagon assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District on June 26 during a formal change of command ceremony at the district’s headquarters.
The District’s area of responsibility includes the entire state of New Mexico as well as portions of southern Colorado and far west Texas.
Lt. Col. Dagon served as Chief of Construction with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency at Kirtland Air Force Base New Mexico. He also served previously in the Corps as the Deputy District Commander at the Nashville District; Deputy Resident Engineer at Ft. Myer Virginia; and Deputy District Engineer for Support Operations Baltimore District.
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock (GLDD) Corp. appointed Mark Marinko as senior vice president and chief financial officer on June 23. Marinko joins GLDD to fill the role vacated in April 2014 and held in interim by the Vice President and Controller Katherine Hayes.
Marinko starts at Great Lakes with a strong background in operations and finance working for TransUnion LLC through August 2013. Marinko was most recently president of the consumer services division at TransUnion leading the direct to consumer and business market customer service consumer compliance and marketing for the credit information company.
Lt. Col. Jared B. Erickson P.E. Corps of Engineers Galveston District.
Galveston District
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District welcomed its new deputy commander Lt. Col. Jared B. Erickson P.E. in May.
Erickson’s past military assignments include serving as a battalion S3 and executive officer with 46th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy) at Fort Polk Louisiana.; and in Iraq the chief of operations with 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in Afghanistan; an instructor and assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the United States Military Academy West Point New York.
In 1999 he earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis) from Purdue University in 2004.

Cummins Inc.
Cummins Inc. has named Kelley Tate president of Cummins Power Systems. Tate will succeed Scott Patrohay.
Headquartered in Bristol Pennsylvania Cummins Power Systems serves a broad region of the Eastern U.S. including the Bermuda Islands Connecticut Delaware Pennsylvania Maryland Northern Virginia New Jersey New York City Metro Area and Washington DC.
Since joining Cummins Power Systems in March 2011 Tate has served as vice president chief financial officer. During his tenure he helped establish internal controls and process improvements that have allowed the business to remove risks.
Cummins Inc. also announced that Jeff Jones vice president – North American Engine Business and Marketing Communications retired from the company on June 30.
Jones joined Cummins in 1977 as a regional service manager after beginning his career as an application engineer at General Motors.
“I am extremely grateful to have spent 37 years with this great company and am honored to have helped Cummins achieve its leading position in North America” Jones said. “More than anything else I will miss working with my industry colleagues and customers as well as the many talented employees at Cummins.”
Lori Thompson will assume a new position as Vice President – Engine Business Marketing and will have responsibility for global marketing marketing communications and emerging-growth opportunities.
