SMIT Removes Sunken Platform
SMIT Salvage was awarded a contract to remove a damaged jack-up platform from the seabed offshore Angola. With this contract SMIT Salvage has acquired approximately $70 million in work to begin the second quarter of 2014.
During its installation near a pigging platform in July 2013 the platform suffered a punchthrough and rolled over and sank to a depth of 30 meters (about 98 feet). a Boskalis survey team and by SMIT Salvage carried out extensive site surveys and preparatory work last September.
SMIT Salvage will remove the hull legs and other components from the jack-up platfor mobilizing a diving support vessel a work barge anchor handling tugs and other equipment.
