Elastec/American Marine and other winners were honored at an invitation-only conference and gala awards ceremony in New York City on October 4 and in the November issue of Popular Mechanics available on newsstands October 16.
At the awards event Donnie Wilson CEO of Elastec/American Marine participated in a panel discussion on the innovation economy where the following questions were discussed:
• How does innovation work in America today?

• Is it a corporate function where companies invest in R&D to gain competitive advantage?
• Does it require the large-scale resources of the federal government?

The panel of creative people from different areas of the U.S. innovation economy explored the American innovation gene and what it will take for the country to remain competitive in the 21st century.
