Ellicott Wins Award for Rohr Acquisition
The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Maryland Chapter has awarded its “Deal of the Year Award” to Ellicott Dredge Enterprises LLC for its purchase of selected assets from Rohr Corporation.
In March 2011 Ellicott Dredge Enterprises LLC acquired selected U.S. assets of Rohr Corporation including its backlog and intellectual property as well as the shares of Rohr Bagger GmbH which has a manufacturing plant in Mannheim Germany. This international acquisition added yet another line of dredges to Ellicott’s range of product offerings for various applications.
Rohr serves the sand and gravel aggregate and mining industries internationally offering customers equipment for economical sand and gravel recovery and the ability to extend the life of existing deposits with state-of-the-art automated floating clamshell and bucket ladder dredge systems especially for hard digging and deep digging applications.
Rohr’s dredges are all electric and have a regenerative capability for energy-efficient operation reducing the energy consumption and lowering the cost per ton operating cost.
Of Rohr’s many patents its Bucket Monitoring and Diagnostic Systems offers customers further production efficiencies increasing production and enhancing safe operation.
Ellicott President Peter Bowe noted that “Rohr’s technology especially in automation and electrical power will complement and supplement our existing engineering resources serving our other dredge brands and products.”
Rohr’s Managing Director Heiko Osterchrist commented that this combination with Ellicott not only allows Rohr to increase its international exposure to new markets and industries but also expands Ellicott’s production capability through Rohr’s German operation.

Ellicott Dredge Enterprises LLC has been nominated for the Deal of the Year award two other times in the past four years.
