Latin American Port Congress in Antigua

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and the National Port Commission of Guatemala (CPN) will present the 21st Latin American Congress of Ports – “Present and Future of the Latin American Ports in the Multimodality and Logistics Era” – on April 9 through 12 2012 in Antigua Guatemala.

The organizers expect attendance from stakeholders of port activity in Central America the Caribbean and South America. They are also expecting delegations from the United States Europe Asia and Africa which have participated in previous port congresses.

The academic program will be supplemented with intense social activity expected to strengthen relationships. Talks will be on Development of Logistic Infrastructures in the World and its Impact on Latin America; Global Trends of Integration of Maritime and River Transport with the Logistics Chain; Connectivity of Latin American Ports; Consolidation of the Bi-oceanic River and Multi-modal Corridors in Latin America; Investment and Private Capital Participation in Logistics and Multi-modal Projects on the continent; Strengthening of the Continental Naval Industry to face the requirements in regional logistics; Challenges of the Latin American Ports to lower their logistical costs; as well as The Latin American Public Agenda to Consolidate Multi-modality and Port Competitiveness among other topics.

Antigua the host city is a UNESCO Historical Heritage of Humanity community.

COPA Airlines will provide special rates for congress attendees. The organizers urge visitors to see the historic and natural beauties offered by the country considered the Heart of the Mayan world one of the most visited international destinations.
