30 YEARS AGO
The Ninth World Dredging Conference is held at the Bayshore Inn Vancouver B.C. October 29–31 1980; North American Trailing Company subsidiary of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock announces plans to build its fourth hopper dredge in the Manhattan Island class- the Padre Island to be delivered in 1981.

20 YEARS AGO
October 1990. After Kenner Marine files bankruptcy Tommy Wetta William Wetta Wilbert Rodriguez James L. King John Bradley Eddie Cicardo Carl Agurcia Dalton Lemoine and others join Bob Dagley at Dredging Supply Inc.; October 1990: Frank Hazen celebrates the 10th anniversary of his company Hazen Tide Gauge.

10 YEARS AGO
In September 2000 Joseph M. Lavelle dies in Charleston at age 60. He was president and founder of Marcol Dredging Company.; John Herbich publishes his Handbook of Coastal Engineering.
