Damen Delivers Sand Dredge Clair de Lune to MFW Dredging in Nigeria
Damen Dredging Equipment has delivered a CSD500 model cutter suction dredge to MFW Dredging in Nigeria for construction sand mining. The delivery included the dredge and spud barge a workboat and three personnel carriers. The dredge was transported by BACO-liner* to Port Harcourt and will be used to mine sand.
The standard dredge named Clair de Lune has been enhanced by a number of options including a spud carriage pontoon and anchor boom system. A quarters unit a VHF system and navigation lights were added plus a rubber ring gate valve in the discharge pipeline.
The four personnel carriers are Damen Model FAC540. The workboat is a Damen MiniCat1003.
MFW Dredging has operated only Damen vessels for the past decade.
MFW Dredging enlarged its fleet to serve the oil companies and to provide the local market with sand. The shipment was in customs in Nigeria the second week of January.
* A BACO liner opens at the bow and dredges and other vessels can be floated in. This eliminates hoisting and hazardous deck transport.
