ICE Issues Call for Papers for Breakwater Conference
The Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) is accepting abstracts for its Coasts Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2009 Conference. The conference Adapting to Change will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre Scotland U.K. on September 16 through 18 2009. Abstracts will be accepted through August 1 2008.
This is the ninth conference in the international breakwaters series and will address the design performance installation and maintenance of structures necessary to extract marine energy around nearshore seas and coasts.
Topics for papers include dredging and use of dredged materials; design performance analysis construction refurbishment and rehabilitation of breakwaters seawalls and jetties; nearshore marine energy systems coastal erosion flooding and management; coastal data and measurement; and developments in research analysis and guidance.
Themes encompass climate change new techniques and innovations construction methods and equipment environmental and social awareness. Approaches to procurement economics requirements of emerging markets infrastructure analyses service re-assessment and adaptation round out the themes.
Abstracts in English must be submitted electronically at www. ice-breakwaters.com. Selected authors will be notified by October 2008.
The breakwater series is recognized for its balanced presentations on research design and construction with a strong emphasis on practical application.
A technical exhibition will showcase skills and products of organizations and companies. Chairman of the organizing committee is William Allsop HR Wallingford and University of Southampton. The international scientific advisory committee is made up of representatives from Denmark Italy Japan Spain United States Germany and The Netherlands.
